Bitget Wallet teams up with MoonPay

Bitget Wallet, a self-custodial wallet operated by major cryptocurrency exchange Bitget, has introduced its first fiat withdrawal option with the crypto payment platform MoonPay. The partnership between Bitget Wallet and MoonPay enables users to convert stablecoins directly into 25 different fiat currencies. This move represents a significant step forward for Bitget Wallet, allowing users to access a fiat off-ramp without having to rely on centralized exchanges.

Expanding wallet functionality

The addition of the fiat withdrawal feature on Bitget Wallet marks a milestone in the evolution of cryptocurrency wallets. According to Jamie Elkaleh, chief market officer at Bitget Wallet, this new feature reflects a growing trend for wallets to offer full-cycle asset management within a decentralized network. By supporting major stablecoins like USDT and USDC, Bitget Wallet aims to provide users with a seamless experience for converting crypto to fiat.

Growing user demand for self-custodial solutions

Bitget Wallet's partnership with MoonPay comes at a time when there is increasing demand for simplified, self-custodial methods to exit crypto positions. Elkaleh highlighted the market context, citing a decline in spot trading on centralized exchanges. With the new fiat withdrawal feature, Bitget Wallet aims to cater to users who prefer to manage their assets independently without relying on traditional exchanges. The variable fee structure for fiat withdrawals ensures transparency and flexibility for users looking to convert their stablecoins to fiat currencies.
